The holidays are already here again and that means hosting parties and events especially for family and friends. Taking your family and friends out to have drinks may be one way to enjoy a family re-union, but you have to agree it's not half as accommodative as having the party at home. Now while buying and stocking drinks at home in the freezer or cooler is good enough, there is a more elegant option. An option that will definitely leave your guests awed.
The whole idea lies on redecorating your living room. There is always that large space in the living room where you could not find anything suitable to put. So you bought a potted plant and it rested there. It is time to take out that plant and put that space to good use.
Step 1. Add a Home Bar
What's better than adding a little home bar area to entertain your guests and enjoy some tasty libations?
There are various options for a home bar but they all involve the same concept, a counter and stock shelves to store your drinks and glasses. I mean, what's a bar without drinks? It's a depressing place, and frankly that's a place I wouldn't want to be.
For better elegance, have the counter top made from something like mahogany with a dark polished finishing. The lighting of the bar should have a bright neon to complete the look, perhaps a dark shade of blue.
Step 2. Stock Your New Home Bar
You should really pay attention to the shelves and how you stock your bar. There is a system to how this is done and you should probably have someone fit it for you, if you are not that inclined as a decorator. The really good stuff is usually at the top shelf. You can have your own stocking style as long as you know where everything is.
You can't have a bar without accompanying furniture. Where will your guests sit? Especially when there is a heated discussion that can only be had at the bar counter. So bring in bar stools. You want something that compliments your existing decor, but adds an attractive contrast. They also should offer some comfort to your guests, especially after that second drink kicks in and Tom refuses to admit you can beat him in a 100 Meter dash (Sigh).
Step 3. Add Seating and Accent Furniture
Ever considered adding some accent furniture? No? Well, now you should.
Adding a couple pieces of accent furniture to your living room is a great way to add some some style and comfort, and have your guests wondering who your decorator is. Talk about elegance with purpose. You could bring in a few accent tables and chairs to match. Ideal for having a relaxed and cozy conversation with your girlfriends, over a glass of wine.
Your living room furniture speaks volumes, and nothing says elegance quite like a beautifully feng shuied living room with some stylish furniture.
That does not mean you have to throw out everything and start from scratch. Your older living room furniture can be fitted to look like an exclusive VIP lounge by just making a few changes and adding a couple of choice new pieces.
